“ Eurovision Song Contest，名称翻译过来应该是欧视歌曲大赛，从1956年在瑞士Lugano（卢加诺）举办第一届以后，每年会举行一次，由在上一届获得冠军的国家承办。比赛的结果不是评委说了算，而是由全欧洲的电视观众决定——歌曲演唱完毕，会给出十分钟时间，由电视观众打投票电话进行评选，投票范围为除自己国家外的其他所有歌手。
这个大赛很有意思，因为不规定歌手必须是这个国家的“自己人”，各个国家可以根据自己的情况请“外援”，好象足球比赛。瑞士国家小，得奖少，自然举办这个大赛的次数也不多。算起来得第一只有两次——1956年苏黎世歌手Lys Assia和1988年代表瑞士参赛的Céline Dion。这样看来，Céline Dion和瑞士真有有特别的关系。 2006年度欧洲歌唱大赛（ESC 2006）、也是第51届欧洲歌唱大赛将在希腊雅典奥林匹克室内体育场、于2006年5月18日举行半决赛、于5月20日举行决赛。作为欧洲动员最广、规模最大、最有影响、历史悠久、也是经营得最为成功的歌唱赛会，它早已是欧洲各国歌手展现才华、扬名立万的重要舞台，也是欧洲各国人民十分喜爱的绝好节目，各国政府高度重视之能带来巨大节日效益的音乐盛典。
由2004得到第三名的Sakis Rouvas主持。eurovision愈办愈大，今年共有34国参赛，许多国为求胜，不乏搬出天王天后参赛。像是久未有佳绩的爱尔兰端出的抒情民谣天王Biran Kennedy，地主国希腊更是派超级天后Anna Vissi参赛！每首歌多半都已拍摄MV，最近在全欧强力放送，争取选票。" 不过多半歌曲是被发烧级的歌迷嗤之以鼻的， 不过这个lordi的确很酷，如果你的网速不够快，可能是图片联播了，可以下载了看。
5月20日 Black is the colour对于爱尔兰的音乐我是佩服得五体投地的，这是其他国家永远也赶不上的，远的似乎遥不可及的国家，音乐名人层出不穷，就象巴西的足球，音乐对爱尔兰人来说，是扎在骨子里的。
曲调不必太复杂，波澜而不用壮阔，总是那么的恰倒好处。
